Finger-count Shortcuts: a Novel Interaction Technique for Qgis

چکیده
INTRODUCTION GIS continuously increase in complexity, more and more data are created as much features developed to treat them. On the user side, GIS software is now integrated in several processes such as emergency management. In this article, we study how novel Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) techniques can improve GIS usability, especially for making command selection easier and for enabling collaborative work. We propose an interactive setup (Figure 1) that enables co-located collaboration around an interactive tabletop. Tabletops favor social awareness, facilitate communication among users and make it possible for several users to interact with the same data. Moreover, multi-touch tabletops provide a way of interacting that is more natural and intuitive than traditional mouse and keyboard interfaces. We propose QGIS-MT, an extension of Quantum GIS (QGIS) for multi-touch tabletops. QGIS-MT makes it possible to use QGIS on multi-touch surfaces and favors collaboration. It also introduces a novel interaction technique, called Finger-Count Shortcuts, which allows users to navigate and activate numerous commands quickly and easily by performing simple finger gestures.

Finger-Count & Radial-Stroke Shortcuts: Two Techniques for Augmenting Linear Menus on Multi-Touch Surfaces
We propose Radial-Stroke and Finger-Count Shortcuts, two techniques aimed at augmenting the menubar on multitouch surfaces. We designed these multi-finger two-handed interaction techniques in an attempt to overcome the limitations of direct pointing on interactive surfaces, while maintaining compatibility with traditional interaction techniques. While Radial-Stroke Shortcuts exploit the wellkno...
متن کاملLeaf Menus: Linear Menus with Stroke Shortcuts for Small Handheld Devices
This paper presents Leaf menu, a new type of contextual linear menu that supports curved gesture shortcuts. By providing an alternative to keyboard shortcuts, the Leaf menus can be used for the selection of commands on tabletops, but its key benefit is its adequacy to small handheld touchscreen devices (PDA, Smartphone). Indeed Leaf menus define a compact and known layout inherited from linear ...
متن کاملComparing Free Hand Menu Techniques for Distant Displays Using Linear, Marking and Finger-Count Menus
Distant displays such as interactive Public Displays (IPD) or Interactive Television (ITV) require new interaction techniques as traditional input devices may be limited or missing in these contexts. Free hand interaction, as sensed with computer vision techniques, presents a promising interaction technique. This paper presents the adaptation of three menu techniques for free hand interaction: ...

Purpose: To provide a comprehensive and precise research for population studies on the association of dermatoglyphic patterns on cleft lip/palate deficits. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control observational study that conducted in North Khorasan on 1386. Using a simple random sampling individuals with cleft/lip palate were allocated to case group and their matched health cases were co...
متن کاملMODIFIED ONE- FINGER LAPAROSCOPY TECHNIQUE
We used the modified one finger laparoscopy technique on 100 patients and found it to be successful in 87% of cases. No major complication occurred during or after such operations. However, we think that this technique is accompanied by three important problems: 1) The CO2 gas is lost f1"om the subumbilical incision, 2) A secondary fascial layer is present in some patients, and 3) There i...
